Lorelai's first day going to preschool at Miss Cindy's preschool. Her school was an in home preschool and perfect! She was so excited to go. We got her a new backpack (she picked out Minnie Mouse) and she wanted to wear her sunglasses. At first she was shy, but she warmed up just fine and loved it!

A Letter to Lorelai
Dear Lorelai,
Today was your first day of Preschool. We enrolled you in Miss Cindy’s class, a
little preschool every Wednesday at Cindy Pendleton’s house. You are 3 ½ and are already very advanced at
academics for your age. Dad and I
figured you needed to learn to listen in a classroom environment more than
academics. At this time you already know
how to count well up to 20 and you know and recognize all your alphabet
letters. You also know how to spell your
name and recognize it, but not yet write it.
You have a wonderful imagination and love to play “pretend.” You love to pretend you are a princess at a
ball, play tea parties and do other imaginary games. You have an amazing memory! It always astounds your dad and me at what
you remember and your advanced vocabulary.
You are very sweet and sensitive, but a little bossy and assertive. This is why we thought preschool would be a
good start for you to learn to listen to the teacher in a classroom setting
because you need to work on taking turns with other children. Dad and I can’t wait to see how you enjoy
preschool!
We bought you a Minnie Mouse backpack, which you were very
excited about! You wore it all day until you went to preschool. You wanted pigtails in your hair and when we
got you dressed you said how “cute” your outfit was! And I loved how you went downstairs to show
dad your cute outfit. You were really
excited to go to school.
When I dropped you off,
you clung to me, which made me feel good…I must admit! You told me you wanted to go back home, but I
knew you’d love it. You sometimes just
get a little shy when you meet new people so you clung to me. After you got more assimilated with the other
children I was able to leave you while you played on the floor and strung
beads. I walked out feeling so excited
for you because I knew you would love preschool but a little sad because it was
the first time I really felt like you are growing up, which is hard to accept.
Lorelai, I want you to
know how much I love you so much. You’re
personality right now is so fun to be around.
Every once in a while when you don’t get your way you might throw a
small tantrum but so much more of the time you are such a joy to be
around. I just love to be with you all
the time. I love to talk with you and
watch you play and listen to you sing and dance. Sometimes at night I don’t even want to put
you to bed because I enjoy being with you so much. You are my sweet joy, I can’t get enough
kisses and hugs and snuggles from you. I
wish I could better put into words the amount of love I feel for you. I feel immensely blessed to have been given
the opportunity to be your mother. Dad
and I could not ask for a more beautiful daughter and I know the times ahead
will be just as joyful.
I love you.
Mom
