Dear Gwen,
Daddy and I knew that we wanted to have another baby that would be close in age to Lorelai. When Lorelai turned one, we started trying to get pregnant. We were so excited to have another baby! At the time my cousin Katie Larson and her two toddlers, Jewel (1) and Jagger (3) were living with us and Katie was pregnant with Royal. So mommy was especially excited to be pregnant since she and Katie were pregnant together! It was such a fun time in our lives living with Katie and having all these cute kids around! It helped to have someone there that could relate to the morning sickness which I was feeling. When we found out you were a girl, I was so excited! Lorelai would have a sister! I imagined you two being best buddies! I always wanted a sister so I was super excited that I would have two daughters!
fter another hour I thought maybe the epidural wasn’t working, so I called the nurse because I felt so much pressure. The nurse came in and checked my dilation, and then ran out. They then came back in with Dr Bryan and a few more nurses and they told me I was ready to have the baby! Wow! That came so quick! With Lorelai, I had pushed for 45 minutes. This time was much better. I pushed for about 5 minutes and you were out! Daddy and grandma Susie were both there helping me. They were crying with joy when you came! I was so excited to see your face. We hadn’t decided on a name until we saw your face. We were still wavering between Guinevere and Charlotte. You were a Guinevere! Although, I think I always knew you were a Guinevere.
hat night I stayed by myself in the hospital because at the time, daddies couldn’t spend the night. The next morning Lorelai came to meet you! This was the best day of my life this far! Lorelai walked in to my hospital room and without so much as a “hi” to me….she saw you and said “I wanna hold it!” Over and over! “I wanna hold it!” She knew you were her sister and she wanted to hold you so bad! It was so precious! And then we put her on the bed and put you in her arms and she just looked at you and said “hi.” And “I want eyes open!” Which was so funny because you were sleeping and she wanted to see your eyes. She kissed you over and over! I don’t think I could have felt more joy and happiness than at that very moment! Seeing my two sweet girls together and the love Lorelai instantly had for you was so beautiful. Once we arrived home she wanted to hold you all the time, sometimes with her toys as well, maybe she thought you were a toy! You have brought so much joy to our life and I can’t wait for a lifetime of beautiful moments like the one of your birth.
I love you my Gwennie girl!
Love, Mom
