CRUISE NIGHT 2009
Lorelai's first Claremont Car Show! Every summer the city of Claremont hosted a cruise night at the
Village, where they had rows of old vintage cars to look at. We'd check out the cars, grab a hamburger at the grill and hang with the family. Cruise Night was special to the McDonald family because my dad, Cordell McDonald, had fixed up his parent's old 1966 Mustang after it had been sitting in their backyard for decades. Over the years, grandpa Cordell worked on the car with a professional restorer, and had the old 'stang re-built and re-stored to it's original glory. The Saturn gold color and all! Grandpa Elmer and grandma Beth were the original owners of the car and didn't know that their youngest son, Cordell, was restoring it. He surprised them one year at the cruise night! Grandma Beth recognized it right away and jumped right in! What a fun night to see the looks on their faces when they realized that it was their old ride! We continued the Cruise Night tradition every summer, even after grandpa Elmer had passed away.

Such sweet memories of Cruise Night. The most memorable was the "unveiling" of the 'Stang" for Grandpa and Grandma. How could anyone of us ever forget that?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, the "unknown" is Grandma Janette! I think I may have fixed the displayed name thingy!
