Visiting McAllen, Texas

Ian was asked to go down south to McAllen, Texas and manage the facility there while the administrator was on vacation for a few weeks.  Because we are friends with them, they offered for our entire family to come down and stay at their home while Ian worked!  We got to hang out with their family for a day before they left on their road trip which was so fun for all the littles!  And then while Ian worked, I took the kids to the community pool, swam at their house and played with lots of fun new toys in their fabulous play room!  It was like a vacation for me and a great opportunity for Ian to do more training for his job.

Since we had to do some long drives, I let the girls pick out a toy to take on the trip.  They each chose
a Mermaid Barbie and were so excited!  They kept saying "Thank you mom, we are so grateful" and
saying to each other "you are the best sister!"  So sweet!  

We did quite a bit of driving back and forth!  These girls are road trip pros!

 The community the Jones live in has a beautiful community pool complete with water slides, and a fun splash zone for the littles.

On Saturday we decided to take the kids to the beach since we were so close staying in McAllen.  So we drove over to South Padre Island.  It was certainly not the kind of beach we were used to in California.  People actually drove right on the beach and where we were at there was tons of seaweed.  So much seaweed there wasn't much space between the water and the sand to actually build a sandcastle.  Ian and I were pretty disappointed but the girls had fun.
