May 2012
Lorelai decided she wanted a Dora themed party for her 3rd birthday. This worked out perfectly since the Saturday when we'd have her party was Cinco de Mayo. So we had a Dora Fiesta swim party! The Mexican celebration was complete with tacos, a pinata (filled with Mexican candy) and Dora themed goodies. Our family and friends had a great time swimming and eating carne asada. The actual day of Lorelai's birthday, May 1st, we were over at Liz's house playing. She threw a little party for Lorelai with party hats and dinner that night. So fun!

A Letter for Lorelai
Dear Lorelai,
You are now a 3 year old! There is quite a difference from age 2 to age
3. You really are transitioning from
baby/toddler into a little girl and it’s fun to watch! I love how places and people have so much
more meaning to you now. You are just so
much more aware with life. You love
nursery, and I love having you in there, because I get to be your teacher. You talk about your friends, Delani Postoian
and the Postoian family and Elyse Jergensen so much. At this age you are really engaging with
friends and have become very close with Elyse.
It is fun watching the two of you play together in nursery. You don’t play with anyone else, you just
play together, the two of you, the whole time!
Sometimes you might include Gwen, but usually she’s the “3rd
wheel.” You and Elyse call her “baby Gwen” and usually try to include her but
its sweet how much the two of you play.
You have developed a very sweet
personality. You have love for others, you
are very sympathetic and sensitive to the world around you and I love that! You are a sweet little girl, not sassy or
rude. You always want to please mom and
be kind. Your personality is very much
like mine. I can see so much of me in
you. You love to dance and twirl and
play daintily with your toys. You love
dressing up like a princess, playing tea parties, getting your nails painted,
swimming, painting and playing with anything that is Disney princess. Such a girly girl!!
Since you really understood at
this age what a party was, and one was for you, we threw you a birthday
party. We had it in Grandma Susie’s
backyard and the weather was perfect for the pool party. The day we celebrated was Cinco de Mayo so we
had a Dora Fiesta complete with carne asada tacos, a Dora piñata filled with
authentic Mexican candy (which I bought for you at the Anaheim Mexican swap
meet with my friends Pablo and Manual) and a Dora birthday cake. It was the perfect day. At this time I was pregnant and was hoping
not to be sick on your special day and luckily I wasn’t! All your grandparents were there, McDonald
and Sewell, and Auntie Leilani with Kira and Landon Swann, also Auntie Stevie
and Uncle Mike and baby Nathan McDonald, the Postoian family, Jergensen family,
Frys, Giles and the Anderson family.
You’re party was perfect!
I love you so much little
one! You bring me so much happiness and
I love listening to you talk about the world and things you love in the sweet
little voice you have. You have brought
so much joy into many people’s lives. I
hope you never lose that sweet sensitivity and love others as you do at 3 years
old.
I love you to the moon and back
Mom
